PAST YEAR'S OPERATIONS REVIEWED.

I Interesting details of the finance and administration of the New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board l are given in the eighth annual report, and statement of accounts. The income of the board for the year was £39,331 14s (3d, of which the levy on meat exported (£36,- j 586 10s Id less the cost of collection j £365 13s lOd) produced £36,203 5s 3d. Interest on investments amounted tol £2921 12s lOdi and the net income from ! the board’s cold store site in London, valued l at £29,125, was £206 16s sd. ) The. expenditure for the year, including depreciation, totalled £34,112 3s 9d, leaving a credit balance of £5219 10s 9cl. The main items of expenditure wore: Expenses of management , including salaries at head office £4453 17s and London office £3064, £11,179 19s 6d; members’ honoraria and travelling expenses, £3259 18s 6d; chairman’s ! visit, to England on account,* £587 19s i 4d; sujjervision of grading of meat and loading and unloading of ships, £3045 14s 2d; overseas representatives, £3Ol 13s; cost of board election, £503; cost of annual report, £565; advertising, £13,049 14s 9d'. Other items such as scientific survey, special experiments, research grant, conference of freezing companies, engineers and It oval Show prizes total £1216 10s. " , The board’s accumulated fund as at June 30, 1930, totalled £94,186 17s 7d. Assets include £59,000 invested in New Zealand Government 5 1-S per cent., 51 pei* cent, and 5J per cent, inscribed stocks, rural intermediate credit bonds at 54 per cent, and the cold store site, London, £29,125.
