METHODIST SALE OF WORK
WOMEN’S AUXILIARY EFFORT. The special annual effort, a sale of work, made by the Methodist 1\ omen s Mission Auxiliary on behalf of the work amongst tne Maoris and the Solomon Islanders, was formally opened this afternoon at the Wesley Hall by Mrs L. J. Williams, who stressed the value of women’s work for women. This auxiliary, she said, had to raise the sum of £75 annually towards maintaining nurses and sisters in these mission fields and she .confidently asked the sun-port of the people of the town and district. She remarked that the call to service was answered in a surprising wav and qualified nurses with high credentials offered their services, often giving up good positions to serve the cause of the missions. In conclusion Mrs Williams said she had great pleasure in declaring the sale of work ooen for business, with the hope that the results would mean a substantial amount towards a good cause. A pretty bouauet was then presented to her'by Mrs Boucher. The stalls were in the charge of the following ladies: Work, Mesdames Dixon, Saunders and Boucher: .birthdav tree, Mesdames L. J. Williams and Shenlierd; cakes. Mesdames Emmitt. Yearhury and Furness ; produce. Mesdames Tozer. ,senr. and junr., and Bae; flowers, Mesdames Beeson and Manners; sweets and jumble. Young Women’s Bible Class: tea-rooms. Mesdames Mills. Knight-bridge and Bach and Misses Mills and Paws-nn. This evening’s session will open‘at 7.30 o’clock, when, there will he. a musical programme and various competitions.
