The, magistrate said that defendant apparently did not appreciate bis position.

Brian Malone, of Ka.puni. charged with ridino- a motor cycle to which an efficient silencer wits not affixed. and, also, failing: to provide- the cycle with a warning device audible under normal conditions at a. distance of not lens than 300 feet, was convicted on both charges. The magistrate said he had been inflicting lines of £4 on riders of motor cvcles wliich made hideous noises. 11 there was in the present, case a .prospect of the silencer being fitted, the penalty might be made lighter. Margaret O. J. linlah, Kaupokonui, charged on the information of the county insipeetor with driving a motor ear with an inefficient foot-brake, pleaded guilty and was fined £l, with £1 1.3 s costs.

On a. charge similar to the iforegoing, AY'aiter AV. Butler, of Stuart Road, Klthani, was fined £l. and ordered to pay co.-'ts. £1 13s.
