ELECTRIC ATMOSPHERE.

WILL GOVERNMENT HOLD OFICE?

WELLINGTON, July 29

The Parliamentary atmosphere is electric in anticipation of the financial debate and its possible consequences to the Government. There is a rumour that the Reform Opposition intends to submit a no-confidence motion designed on sufficiently broad lines to justify Labour support. AIL three parties held caucus meetings to-day for discussion of the Budget situation, and it was gathered from Labour members, who bold the key to tbe position, that they will not commit themselves to any Reform amendment involving consequences not only to the taxation policy, but also to the ultimate fate of the Unemployment Bill and the Workers’ Compensation Amendment Bill. They are withstanding anti-Government pressure from their Trades Hall supporters.
