The Auckland provincial amateur boxing championships were concluded last night. Results of the. finals were: Flyweights.—F. Bruno, 7.0, beat C. Grimmer,?, 7.5-3-Ban ta m weigh t. —J. M cL a ughlen, 7.12), beat A. Porteous 8.0). Featherweight.—R. Purdie, 8.11), knocked out W. Hogg, 8.8). Lightweight.—R.. B. Martin, 9.13, beat F. Lindesay, 9.13). Welterweights.—D. Cleverley, 9.13) ; beat C. McKnight, 10.5. Middleweight.—H. Neale, 11.4, beat G. Tayler. Light-heavyweight.—Ri. P. Cowan, 11.12, knocked out J. H. Shadbolt, 11.9.
Heavyweight.—P. McCarthy, 12.8. beat CL Painter, 12.9. A special medal was awarded to W. Hogg for his showing in both the welter and middleweight classes. P. McCarthy (heavy) was the only champion to retain his title.
