TENNIS -CLUB BALL. TIIO plain nndi fancy dress ball arranged by the Mangamingi Tennis Olub on Friday night was a very successful function. The hall was artistically decorated! with ferns and streamers. The floor was in good- order and excellent music was supplied by Sait s Orchestra. Extras were played, by Miss McDonald and Mr P. Hickey. Supper was provided by the ladies headed by Mrs Boddie. Mr P. R. Brown was master of ceremonies. The Monte l Carlo waltz was won by Mrs Oliisnall and partner and the spot waltz by Mrs Paton and partner. A number attended in fancy costume and the following were awarded prizes : Best costumes } Miss StookwelL (Nurse), Mr Tonka (Mepliistopheles); most original, Miss Adam (Rompers), and Mr General Boddie (Dutch). The weather for the past week has been very cold and feeding-out to stock hais commenced. The first lamb of the season lias- made its appearance —an early start for this district. Mrs R. FT. Sinclair has been seriously ill, blit is making good progress towards recovery. Mr and Mrs J. Sinclair (Opunake) are visiting the district. Mr P. R. Brown is leaving during the week for a visit to Hawke’s Bay and Wellington. ' /
