The British Rugby representatives who will meet North Auckland on Wednesday are: Full-back, Bassett; three-quarters, Reeve, Knowles, Bowcott, Novis; fly half, Jones-Davies; scrum half, Poole; front row, Kendrew, Parker, Rew; middle row, Hodgson, Martindale; back row, Welsh, Prentice, Wilkinson. The players were accorded a civic welcome at the Town Hall directly after their arrival from Auckland this afternoon. To-morrow the Whangarei golf course will be placed at the disposal of the visitors, who will be entertained at- a banquet after the match on Wednesday. CANTERBURY UNION’S CONTROL. CHRISTCHURCH CLUB PROTESTS. CHRISTCHURCH, July 29. Strong criticism of the control of Rugby here by the Canterbury Rugby Union was voiced last night at a full meeting of the Christchurch Football Club, and a motion was carried appointing two members to confer with the other senior football clubs to see what attitude they would support with a view to introducing new blood into the Rugby Union. It was complained j that the standard of Rugby was de- ( dining and that this was the fault of the Union.
