POLLS OPEN ON MONDAY BOTH PARTIES CONFIDENT UNEMPLOYMENT AND 1 EMPIRE TRADE. \ _ calico J>V ausour*c July 27. The polls open, on Monday lor the Federal election. The campaign endea on Saturday night, and 'both Liberals and Conservatives predict victory. The Prime Minister (Mr Mackenzie King) emphasised the record of the Government in tire extension of Bntish preference, the.! countervailing uties against the United States and the development of intor-Empire trade. The Conservative leader (Mr Bennett) attacked the Government on unemployment and urged that Canada’s hr.st policy should he the building up of .the industrial and business file oi the Dominion. The voting will he in 243 -ridings. Two have been filled without contests. The approximate standing of the parties on the dissolution of Parliament was: ■ .........
