GISBORNE PORT CHARGES
FREIGHTS TO ADVANCE. (By Telegraph—Press Association). GISBORNE. June 19. In consequence of the- Harbour Board's decision to levy a. harbour improvement rate and other increased charges against coastal vessels using the inner harbour, shipping companies state that thev will be compelled to immediately advance all freights by half-a-crown a ton.
It is understood that representations of overseas shipping companies are also considering the position created by the board’s decision, which, in relation to overseas shipping, will mean an additional expense up to £75 against future arrivals.
