EARLY, MORNING SMASH
MOTOR CYCLIST INJURED
COLLISION ON SOUTH ROAD
The junction of the Whareroa, and Main South Roads, near Hawera, was the scene of a motor mishap at about 2.30 o’clock this morning, .resulting in injuries necessitating the removal to hospital of Mr C. It. H. Horner, a single man, aged 28, who is employed by Messrs Lightband and Wann, of Hanvera.
It appears that at car, driven by Mr Janies Owen, of Meremere, who was accompanied by two lady passengers, was proceeding from Mokoia to Hawera. It was the driver’s intention to turn down the Whareroa Road, which was, however, passed, and while the car was being backed a few yards a collision occurred with a motor cycle driven by Mr Horner, with Mr J. A. Dunlop, also of Hawera, as a pillion rider.
The cyclists were thrown to the roadway. Tire pillion rider escaped with minor abrasions, but Mr Horner suffered a leg injury which is believed to be the re-opening of a fracture sustained in a motor accident last January.
