The late Sir George Hugh .Charles Clifford Bart., wsa was horn in 1847. succeeded to the title, as second baronet, in 1893. He was educated at Stonyhurst College and admitted to the Bar in 1870. later taking up farming pursuits on Stonyhurst station. Amberlev, which was originally taken up bv Sir Charles Clifford and Sir F. Weld. A. prominent .sportsman, the deceased baronet had been for many years president of the New Zealand Racing Conference, in which capacity he had done much in the establishment of purity of racing.
