SEPARATION “PENSION”
REASON FOR MARRIAGE WIDESPREAD HABIT WOMAN SOLICITOR’S CHARGE. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph Copyright.) Received 1.45 p.m. to-day. LONDON, Jan. 15. Miss Carol Morrison, the first woman solicitor, speaking at the Fabian Society, revealed a widespread habit among young women of marrying in order to get what- is really a pension. She said: “They have no children; they do not want them; then they tire of looking after husbands. So theyaccuse them of cruelty and apply for separation. There are many magistrates who grant these women the maximum allowance of £2 weekly when man’s income is only £3.’’
