In order to obtain his flight lieutenancy, Second Lieutenant J. H. Buckeridge, son of Mr G. H. Buckeridge, of Hawera, lias commenced a month's course at the Wigram aerodrome.

The Rev. J. R. Young, of Hawera, together with Mrs Young and family, left by car to-day to spend a holiday of three weeks in the Wellington district. A noted Marist educationist, Father Monoghan will commence his studies when the college reopens for the present year in February.

ColoneL J. Hutchen, who is in charge of the War Graves Division of / the Internal Affairs Department and who until some months ago, when he returned to New Zealand, was Secretary to the New Zealand Administration in Samoa, met with an unfortunate, accident on Tuesday last. He was knocked down by a motor car, and had one of his legs fractured in two places. He is now in the Wellington Hospital. The Very Rev. Dean Walter Harper, eighth son of the first Bishop of Christchurch died yesterday in his 82nd year. He came to Christchurch in 1856 and was educated at Christ's College and Trinity College, Oxford, graduating an M.A. in 1973. He was ordained a priest in the same year by the Bishop of Chester and returned to New Zealand three years later. He was vicar of various parishes in Canterbury till his retirement in 1913. From 1897 to 1919 lie wag a Fellow and Sub-Warden of Christ’s College and a member of the Board of Governors of Canterbury College from 1897 to 1923.
