CUB ENCAMPMENT

A WEEK AT ELTHAM. A small contingent of Cubs drawn from the Haw era, Eltham and Kaponga troops pitched camp at Taumuta Park, Eltham l , yesterday, in glorious weather. The earliest 'arrivals iby cars from Hawera under Oubmiasber Hitchcock and assistant Gubmasters P. Pinson and K. McGlashan, reached the caanp site at 11.30 a.m., and, as indicating their aptitude and celerity under camp conditions, prepared and served dinner at 1 p.m.

The Eltham section is in the charge of assistant Cubmaster R. Stevens. It is expected that the total number of Cubs in camp (28) .will be increased by a further detachment from Kaponga.

Mrs R. H. Gover (Eltham) will act .as camp mother throughout the whole term of the ’encampment—one week. No set. programme has been arranged, | it. having been decided to suit each iday’s activities to. the .prevailing conditions. The site chosen is well sheltered and replete with the necessary adjuncts to an extended encampment for boys, mat the least of which are a line sports ground and some excellent swimming pools in. the adjacent Waingongoro stream. In the event of too boisterous weather ample covered accommodation is available on the grounds.
