H A WER A ASSOCIATION. GENERAL COMMITTEE MEETING. The cancellation by the emergency committee on Tuesday of the proposed return boxing contest at Hawera next week between Pete Sarron and the exWelsh champion, Jack Joneis. was formally endorsed at a general meeting of the committee of the Hawera Boxing Association last evening, when there were present: Messrs C. 11. Hay McKenzie (chairman), S- R. Ye itch (secretary). W. Moore, S. Moore, W. Croup, j. Freyne and J. Findlater. The possibility of arranging a professional contest in January was' mentioned. and the match committee was requested to- keep the possibility in view. The secretary reported having received- telephone advice during, the afternoon from Wellington to the effect that Jones, who is contemplating taking up residence at Hawera, may bo expe"ted to arrive during the next few days. During informal discussion the chairman broached the subject of the possible retention permanently of the training quarters in High Street and the provision of facilities such _as isbower baths. It was decided to bring the matter up for future consideration. In order to give opportunity for discussion of matters of common interest among members of the -association, it was decided to hold meetings of the committee at least once monthly. Messrs J. Garcia, and F. Carr, of the Taranaki Association, attended the meeting on the conclusion of routine business, and took part in a roundtable discussion on matters of mutual interest to the associations.
