ITALIANS WANT TO BEAT AIR SPEED RECORD.

LONDON, Sept. 4

Italy is determined not to lose the woitd’s air speed record, even if she cannot win the Schneider Cup. As the corners of the Schneider Cup course are too dangerous for Italy’s Savoia engined machine and so-called eggplant 1 , these may he used after the race in an effort to attain the world’s record for a straight mile long course. In case' of crashes on Saturday, the Navy is providing boats with divers and diving apparatus. ITALIANS HAVE ANOTHER SCARE Received 10.25 a.m. to-day. LONDON, Sept. 5. The Italians had another scare at Calshot. Dalmolin took up the Maachi world record speed plane, and alighted with the most alarming list. Dalmolin climbed to the opposite float and averted the overturning of the machine, which appeared to be imminent.
