THE YORKSHIRE INCIDENT. Received 2.15 p.m. to-day. LONDON, Sept. 4. The Yorksliire-Sussex incident has produced a controversy. The “Daily News” declares that it is utter rubbish to condemn Yorkshire as lacking in sportsmanship. If batsmen realised the handicap of a new ball they can be congratulated on their presence /of mind in ia. crisis, but it is more * likely that both are conscious that runs are valueless when only ten minutes remained’, and a draw was desirable. Yorkshire has not offended, against the spirit of cricket when, folI lowing Lord Hawke’s former dictum, “if von cannot win the game, why lose it.”'
