LATE MR. ROBERT LAMBIE.
FARMERS ’ UNION TRIBUTES. The high regard in which the late ill- Robert Lambie was held by the South Taranaki executive of the Farmers’ Union was amply demonstrated at to-day's meeting when reference was made to the regret felt by members at his death. In moving a resolution of condolence with the relatives of the deceased, the president (Mr E. J. Betts) said that -Mr Lambie was one of the first members of the union and had remained in close association with its work ever since and was some years ago made a life member. He had "been a most conscientious worker and had put the very best, of his ability into the duties lie undertook for the union. His death meant a loss to the district as a whole and especially .to the farmers and the Farmers’ Union.
Mr H. 'Hodge, a past president, said he had been connected with the executive for twenty-seven years and Air Lambie had been a. member when he himself was elected. Air Lambie had always boon closely interested in the union and there was no member whose advice had been taken so readily. There was no man in South Taranaki who more thoroughly enjoyed the respect and esteem of the farmers as Air Lambie and his death was deplored bv all.
Mr E. J. Betts and AL'r J. A. Pettigrew, of Pihama, -were deputed to represent- th(> South Taranaki Executive at the funeral, while Air Robert Dunn was representative of the Dominion executive.
The provincial secretary (Air E. K. Cameron) advised that wreaths had been sent on behalf of the Dominion and provincial executives. A letter conveying the resolution will be sent to the relatives of the late -Mr Lambie.
