Sydney's long list of mysterious disappearances was added to to-day by tlie announcement that two women. Airs Egan, aged 29. and Airs Dakin, aged 32. a baby girl, and two schoolboys named Mervyn Ripley and Frank Jaeano are all missing. Those reported missing last week are still untraced. KOBE. Sept. 3. Japanese naval authorities express dissatisfaction at the luke-warniness of the AlacDonald-Daw'es naval negotiations. It is explained that Japan is anxious to reduce all classes of ships, especially capital ships, but is uotsatisfled with Anglo-American parity. LONDON Sept. 2. Air Stephens, of the New Zealand Fruit Board, has visited Rotterdam in connection with a parcel of apples ex the steamer Norfolk and transhipped from London, which landed at Rotterdam considerable over-rine. He explained that this was due to refrigeration difficulties before shipment, and was unlikely to recur. Afterwards he motored to Frankfurt and found good apples from other cargoes on every hotel table. VANCOUVER. Sent. I A message from Winnipeg stales that, in an apaitment house fire on Sunday, eight persons lost their lives and ten were injured. LONDON. Sept. 2. The Press features reports forecasting a gigantic British car development during 1930, putting out 340.000 ears valued at LOS,OOO,(XX). It is anticipated that the 1931 readjustment of taxation will permit of more powerful British ears being built to compete with greater success against American cars.
