GOOD INTEREST DISPLAYED. Polling took place to-day on the proposal of the South Taranaki. Power Board to raise a loan, of £187,500 for the purchase of the Hawera. County Electric Light Company's business rand improvements and extensions to the present supply systenrr Sixteen polling places were .provided, and at five of these any ratepayer could vote. These are situated ah the Haver a. borough and county offices, tho \Y aim ate West office at Manaia, the Riverdale dairy factory, and the Normanby Town Hall. There are live additional' polling place® in the Waimat© West County, for ratepayers of that county, five in Hawera for ratepayer's of that county, and one at Manaia for town district ratepayers. Polling was to cease at 6 p.m., and arrangements hadi been made for the results from j:h© outlying centress to be sent in promptly. The returning oiecr (Mr H. S. Elliott) anticipates being able to make liis preliminary announcement possibly as early as 6.30 o’clock. The checking of the rolls and official count will begin to-morrow. Up till! 11 a.m. 100 ratepayers had voted at the Hawera Borough central booth, but. iat the county office not as many had come forward. From all indications, however, there were prospects of a heavy poll.
