The executive of the Municipal Association has adopted unanimously adraft Bill in connection with the proposed municipal insurance, and the executive and members of Parliament waited on Sir Joseph Ward yesterday, who promised to bring it forward as a Government measure this session.

A general average of 7 per cent, has been declared on the cargo of the Federal steamer Pakipalti, which is due at Auckland from New York next Monday. While under charter to the A. and A. Arising out of a claim for compensation by a teacher for injury while conducting a laboratory experiment the Auckland Grammar School Board was advised by its solicitor that it could pay such compensation from its general fund and that the AuditorGeneral could °not object. Teachers in receipt of a salary below a certain sum had. a just claim if they met with an accident in the course of their employment. The department regarded the board as the employer and the. responsibility would fall on the board. It was pointed out by a member that the board was not allowed to insure against accident. It was decided to make representations on the subject, to the ATinister of Education.
