The August number of the Co-opera-tor, the monthly magazine of the Farmers ’ Co-operative Organisation, is, as always, full of interesting anti useful information from cover ito- cover.
The opening" article deals with a, .forecast, based wn anti 'backed up by the opinions of business men, on the future economic sit nation of live .Dominion. The writer reviews the position quietly and carefully and gives good reasons | for his fear that all is not so well ns I would appear from the present prosper- • ous position of dairy and wool fa'nnI ers, with their high pay-outs and good | figures at sales. He urges that there j should ha ve been, instead of so much I increased taxation-to meet a deficit, ef-1 [forts made to curtail expenditure or effect economies in some way. j The other articles include one on the j manufacture of fertilisers, growing of mangolds, the value of salt, hints on, three planting and bee-keeping, with a I series of reports on stock sales held in various parts during the month. The ladies ’ page with its ‘ ‘ household hints ’ ’ completes a, very useful number of the magazine, which is printed for the Farmers’ Co-op. by the ‘ ‘ Howera Star. ’ ’
