CYCLE ROAD RACE.
DESIGNATION OF CHAMPIONSHIP RETAINED. (Bv Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, August 15. Despite the fact that the New Zealand Athletic and Cycling Union has allotted the Now Zealand road cycling championship to the Taranaki centre (ronnd-tlie-mountain race) this year the Canterbury centre of the union has decided 1 to retain the designation of championship in the- title of the Timaru-Christdhurch road race to be held on October 5. This decision was arrived at after discussion at a meeting of the centre this evening. After the motion had been carried Mr. Coffey, a member of the centre, remarked: ‘‘The executive can take whatever steps it likes afterwards.”
