TARANAKI ASSOCIATION. MEETING OF MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE. The management committee of the i Taranaki 'Hockey Association met in Elthani last night, those present toeing: Messrs I. J. Bridger (chairman), H. C. Johnson (Stratford), J. Burgess (Hawera), Y. Betts (Kaponka), K. Pennington (Eltham), and E. Urry (secretary). The Dannevirkc association wrote enclosing cheque for £2 10s for the travelling expenses of the referee who controlled the match at Dannevixke between Taranaki and Dannevirke, also stating that a team would toe -sent to Taranaki on August 28 to play a representative team from Taranaki. It was decided to play the match at Hawera and Messrs Burgess, McFadyen and Urry (secretary) (were appointed a committee to make all arrangements in connection with the visit. Mr H. C. Johnson was appointed referee for the match. ! It was decided to send a representaLtive team to Wanganui on 'Saturday next. The team will travel by motor bus, leaving Eltham at 9 o’clock and Hawera at 9.30, and all members of the team were required to travel together as arranged. Mr H. Nodder was appointed manager and referee for the match. . The amended team for Wanganui is as follows: — Goal: Edwards. Backs: McGuinness, Mcßae, Symans. Moloney, Colson. Forwards: Gray, Surgenor, Y. Betts (captain), Simmons, S. Betts.

It was decided to conduct the championship play-off between Otakeho and Kaponga on the (Hawera ground on Wednesday next, in conjunction with the ladies ’ championship competition between the Hawera Rovers land Pihaiua, and to halve the gate takings. Mangatoki club wrote protesting against the referee’s decision in connection with the game played recently with Otakolio. After hearing evidence from all aspects it was decided that the protest be not- upheld. Mr Boswmll represening the Eltham club attended and submitted the balance sheet of the ball run (by the Eltham club for the purpose of entertaining the Australian team. The total proceeds of the ball were £GI 16s 9d and the expenses £44 IS did, leaving a profit, of approximately £S 10s for the Taranaki association. It was decided to thank the Eltham club for its action in entertaining and accommodating the Australian team, and also for the donation of £8 10s. LADIES’ HOOKEY. Watkins. N. Newlove, <J. Gornhoefer. On account of the Rover and Pihama teams being engaged in the play-off. their players were not. considered when selecting the representative team.
