Senator Walter Kingsmill, of Wcstern Australia, lias lieen elected president of the Federal Senate without opposition, states an Australian Press Association message from Canberra. At the annual meeting of the South Taranaki .Rural Intermediate Credits Association some days ago. Mr. J. Cocker, of Rawhitiroa. who has been ■a member since its initiation, ivms appointed chairman in place of Mr. C. Freyburg, who lias resigned. Mr. C’ockcr told a “Hawera Star” representative that lie was the more pleased at the appointment because it showed the confidence of the association after his recent criticism of the head office regarding “dillv dallying" and bis assertion that the delays occurring in granting advances much depreciated the value of the scheme.
