CONCILIATORY EFFORTS.

Sir Horace AVilson continued to-day tile work of conciliator in the Lancashire cotton dispute, -holding an informal conference with the parties. Thelegislative council of the United Textile Factory Workers, representing all operative unions, met -at Manchester this afternoon. On the employer’s side a meeting of the general committee of the Master Cotton Spinners will be held to-morrow, when it ls understood a- report will be submitted on the conversations which the employers’ •representatives had with the Prime Minister on Saturday. No indication was given officially of their nature, though tile conversations were on a basis, which it is understood, the Prime Minister suggested for bringing the employers- and operatives representatives into' conference. There is- ft growing feeling that the employers will agree to arbitration. Five more mills re-staJrted work today at the old rate of wages.
