Tho National Government announces the receipt of a reply f rom the United ■States to the recent’Note presented to ■the Powers requesting the immediate abolition of consular jurisdiction. It is understood that the reply refuses to consider immediate abolition, though offering to discuss the question. It is believed that America’s refusal is based on the belief that many of the Chinese courts arc subject to military influence.
