T. P. O’Connor, father of the House of Commons, was the recipentt this afternoon of deeds of an annuity of the capital! value of £40,000 which has been subscribed by his friends and colleagues in both Houses. The ceremony, which took place on the terrace of the Houses of Parliament, wa,s presided over by the Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. Ramsay MacDonald, who made the presentation and the speakers included Messrs. Stanley Baldwin, Lloyd George 'and Lord . Birkenhead. By a- clause in the trust, the. capita! will, upon Mr. O’Connor’s dearth, be used to found a scholarship. Mr. O’Connor, who .has been m. member of the House of Commons since 1885, is 81 years old. Ho is still engaged; in journalistic work.
