CYCLE ROAD RACE
HAWERA CLUB SERIES. JUNIOR DIVISION CONTEST. The first of a series of cycle road races for junior division riders, under iG years, was held yesterday under the direction of the Hawera Amateur Athletic Club. Eight riders took part in a nine mile journey, jiroeccding from Hawera Via the Glover and Waihi Roads to Normanby and after circling the township, returning via Waihi and Alain South Roads to the Hawera Post Office. All completed the course, only two an'd a half minutes separating the first six home. Plaeings showing handicaps and actual Tiding times were as follow: H. Fredericks (4min.), 27min. 45s ec. 1 AT. Tulloch (3min.), 27niin. 26sec. .. 2 E. Loader (34min), 2Smin. 55see. .. 3 Also 1 started: J. Gribblo (4min); J. England (34min) • K. Lovelock (24 min) ; IT. Hutchins (2min); B. 'Seaver (scr). Tlie scratch rider B. Seaver, who covered tlie journey in 26min. 27see., secured fastest time. Tulloieh and Fredericks registered second and third fastest times respectively. Officials controlling the race were Alessrs A. Grant. L. I. Alarter, H. ATcCahe and J. Dredge. Another race for the junior division riders is to be held in about three weeks time.
