MEETING HELD AT PATEA. i : 1 ; There was much good running and ] > a number of very close contests at the * meeting of the Patea-Hawera Coursing > Club yesterday on the club’s enclosure - at Whenuakura, when the R. P. Morrissey Cup and the Y.C. Clock events ■ were decided. The former went to ■ Messrs Hurley and Willis’ Diamond > Blot- and the latter to Mr W. J. Jef--1 frey’s Golden Mom. The owners of Diamond Blot just failed to land the * double, for their dog Om- Jack was just beaten in the .second event by a narrow margin. The weather was good and the hares , fan well, hut unfortunately, owing to ; i sickness, a number of dogs entered . were unable to compete. There have also- been several deaths from a. malady ; that is prevailing .amongst dogs. These troubles' reduced the competitors to - * 16, but these all put in good work. , The success of the meeting was due . largely to the efficient work and or- , ganisation shown hv the officials, ( Messrs F. S. McKenna (secretary), J. Paterson (treasurer), C. Sheahan (slip- . per), J. W. Bourke and E. J. Bourlie - (stewards), assisted by Mr . A. Me- j Kenna. Mr J. Feaver, of Opuna-ke, acted as judge, and gave every satisfaction with his prompt decisions. The results were as below: MORRISSEY CITP. First Course. —Miss K. Ercyne’s Our ] Nancy 3A v. Mr C.
