STOKERS GIVE TROUBLE.
SHIP’S DEBAR,TURK DELAYED. (Bv TeloKrapb—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, April 8. The Union Company’s steamer Kaiapoi, wa-s to have left for Gveymouth on Saturday evening, bub three stokers were- missing. Substitutes were engaged, and though they were financial members of the Seamen’s Union the stokehold crew refused to sail without the missing stokers, this despite better advice by t-lie assistant secretary ol the Seamen’s Uidon.
There being no prospect of an agreement, the crew were given 24 hours’ notice, the intention being to sign on a complete new crew of stokers to-day.
