TE KIRI.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) Our assistant teacher, Miss Wood, is baclc at school and the relieving teacher (Miss Sage) has left. Miss Wood takes a keen interest in the sports life or the school and had her team trained -and entered for the Egmont County Sports, where Miss Sage ably filled her position. She will be well pleased to hear how well her team acquitted themselves, especially Jeff McCarrison, who, gained fust place in every- event for which he was eligible. To Km gained most points for the shield, but being the largest school in thiit division they were handicapped. Arawhata, -the winning school, richly deserved their wm, as they have only eleven pupils. Ihey were allowed two points for every one scored to balance this deficiency. Mrs Hill is home again from New Plymouth hospital. A Farmers ’ Union dance will be held at Te Kiri Hall to-morrow evening, and opportunity will be taken to present the prizes won at the recent show held by the Awatuna-Te Kiri-Riverlea branch. The placed animals from this show did remarkably well at the combined show at Auroa, which speaks well for the “poor” districts near the mountain.
