WOOL MARKET.
THE WELLINGTON SALE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, March 20. The final wool sale of the season in Wellington to-day realised anticipations, and satisfaction is expressed on all sides. In all 03,600 bales were offered. There was a full attendance of buyers and bidding was brisk from all quarters. Wool of practically all qualities was wanted, and the only disappointing feature was the extremely poor demand for Merino. For all super crossbred wool the demand was good, and this class iso Id up to February rates and over. There was also a good demand for average qualities, and. these'were Id to Jd better than last sale. Inferior wools were firm, but showed no change on February .rates. There was a good .supply of lambs' wool, and average wool was about one penny down. Southdown lambs’ wool was a. disappointing seller. February rates were realised for lieilies and pieces. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Wellington, report : The final sale of the 1928-29 Wellington wool selling .season was held to-day. The combined brokers offered catalogues totalling about 33,300 bales. There was a good attendance of buyers representing Bradford, Continental and American interests, as well as local mills, fellmongers and scourers. The wool was much heavier in condition and containing more seed than the earlier catalogues. The main competition tor topmaking wools was from Bradford and Continental representatives. A few good to super clips, were included, for which competition was keen from American and Bradford buyers. Lambs’ wool waisi in fair supply, French buyers securing the bulk of the offering. Taken all through, prices, compared with those ruling at Christchurch, were par to a shade clearer, but no quotable change can be recorded.
