A SUGGESTION.

(To the Editor.) Sir, —Alav I suggest, as an admiring onlooker, that some public recognition should b e made of the splendid achievements of our local band, fire brigade and schools’ orchestra. Surely such a trio for a town the size of Hawera is unparalleled in New Zealand. I would suggest a public holiday and demonstration in the showgrounds, at which the band, fire brigade, orchestra and other musical and sports bodies of the town should be invited to contribute items, to make the occasion one to be remembered. There should be no difficulty in forming a committee to arrange a programme.—l am. etc., 1 ADfMIEER, Jiawera, March 6, 1929.
