TURUTURU AWAKENING
(To the Editor.) Sir, —It is most satisfactory that your editorial has awakened the Mayor and councillors out of their long sleep. I note that the Mayor has notified that a list has been opened at the County Council and Borough Council offices. Does that mean, sir, that these lists have been started by. a donation from the Mayor and chairman of the County Council, just to give the list a start? If not, do you think the Mayor would think it impertinent to suggest that lists will not be rushed without a good start? Why not head the list with a subscription and call on about ten people who would willingly assist. It is to be hoped that the Mayor will not think that all that needs to be done is the erection of a memorial. The Turuturu can be made into a 1 second New Plymouth garden. One only needs to walk over the historic spot to realise the great possibilities in the future. We need men to-day with a vision' like the early colonists, who looked fifty years ahead. Turuturu in years to come can be a veritable garden and sports ground.— I am, etc., ADVANCE TURUTURU.
