SHIELD COMPETITION. HAWERIA WINS IN SOUTH By defeating Opunake yesterday in the last shield match of the division,' Ila.wera wins in the south. The scores were as below':— l Herbert, Tidswell, Bull, Linkliorn 28 v. Clare, Ferrick, Walker, Burton 21. Oropton, Renwick, Adamson, Robb 26 v. Dalrymple, Hindi, Wilson, Julian 22. Wills, Hodge. Winks, Hicks 25 v. Judson, Holden, Hammond, Smith 25. Totals : Hawera 79; Oinunake 68. Hawera has coane out'winner in the south end, having seven wins and one loss, beaten by Park. They will play off with the winners in the other three Centres some time in March on a green in Hawera. A ferns match was played yesterday ion the Hawera 'Club’s green, when the challengers easily defeated the holders as follows: Champion, Roden, Robertson, Shaw 28 v. f-art tsub,), Goodchap, Johnson. Westaway IS. On Tuesday a rink from the Park club issued a challenge for the Cann Cup held h ytlic Hawera club, hut were unable to sustain tlieir 'challenge.
