MEETING OF THE UNION
CONTEST ON APRIL, 15
At a. meeting of the union of Taranaki Bands in the Borough Chambers Stratford, last evening, there were delegates present from New' Plymouth Regimental Band. Hawera, Stratford, Inglewood, Eltham and Manaia. Mr P. Skoglund presided. After some discussion it was resolved that the band contest be held at New Plymouth on April 15. The Railway Department have undertaken to run special trains from Hawera to the contest. Entries for the contest w’ill close on March 9. The appointment of military judges was left to the committee.
The North Island Association advised that the fee for the contest, would he £25. The amount of the fee did not meet with the approval of the meeting. Several matters of general interest will be brought up at the conference of the association in Wanganui.
