IMPORTS FROM DOMINION.
A CANADIAN PROTEST. ‘ ‘ UNWELCOME INVASION. ’ > .United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph Copyright.) [Australian Press Aiaociation.) Received 10.30 a-m. to-day. OTTAWA, .Tan. 15. A message from Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, states that the *'‘ Guardian, ’ ’ attacking thei trade treaty, says: "Two shipments of New Zealand butter, totalling 5,500,000Tib5, were recently landed at Halifax. This meatas that that amount of Canadian butter must look elsewhere for a market. This' is what farmers, dairymen anid the country are up against. The competitors enjoy summer weather and excellent pasturage, while our cattle must be kept in stalls eating their heads off. How long does Ottawa propose to remain blind to the interests of a great Canadian industry? Thanks to the quality of the product, the island dairymen have had a good year. Undoubtedly they would have done better if they had been spared this unwelcome invasion!. ’ ’
