HAWERA PIPE BAND.
MEETING OF COMMITTEE. A meeting of the: executive of the Hawera; Highl-ainxl Pipe Band was held on Saturday. Present: Messrs J. B. Laurensom (-chairrma'n), L. A. Taylor, C. 11. Bowman, D. Wards, Pipe-Major B. Henson, Corporal Quin, Piper A. Wards and Drum-Major J. Nairn (secretary). Tho secretary reported that Piper J. Hannah had won the Oruden tro-pliy for piping and Piper Reid the junior competition. The band had visited Patea; on Boxing Day and spent a- very successful day.
On the motion o-f Pipe-Major Henson, A. Arnold was elected a member of tho band.
The secretary reaid an invitation: from the New Plymouth Caledonian Society to attend a Bunns’ night on January 26. It was .decided to> forward a letter of thanks and to attend the function if passible. It was decided to parade at Nauimai Park on Sunday, February 3. T.he annual meeting would be held on February G. Representatives of the Scottish Society kindred 1 bands were invited to attend. A committee was formed of Mesdames La.urcnson, Bowman, Simpson, Tjiylor, Nadira and Henson to take charge 'of the suipper arrangements at the annual meeting. To arrange the musical programme a connniittee consisting of Messrs Simpson, Taylor and Henson was appointed.
To elect officers of the band a (meeting was arranged for January 22.
