HEARING OF ELECTION , PETITION. . (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Jan. 12. Monday, January 28, has been fixed as the date of the hearing by the Election Court of the petition against the return of H. M. Ruslnvortii (Country Party) as the member for Bay of Islands. The place of hearing will probably be Kailiohe. STEAMER RETURNS TO PORT. WELLINGTON, Jan. 12. The steamer Rotorua, which sailed on Thursday for England with 65 passengers and carrying a large cargo of dairy produce, frozen meat and wool, radioed yesterday that she was returning to port owing to the discovery of a leak in the packing of the srern gland of the starboard propellor shaft. There is no cause for anxiety.
