EXPORT OF FRUIT.
G UARANTEEI RENEWED. GROWTH OF THE INDUSTRY. (Bv Trlfrgraph—Press Association .j .: WELLINGTON, Jan. 12. The Government guarantee of 11s and 8s on the export of fruit has been renewed for. 1929, the Minister of Agriculture informed an .• 'interviewer yesterday, He. expressed the opinion that there was little likdlihiood of the guarantee for 1928 being cabled upon fo any great extent, as fruit price® had generally been sufficiently good in the last year to cover all expenses. There was no doubt that the policy of guaranteeing had enahied a large export trade to be built up. Over a million oases left New Zealand last year, and .till© prospects were, on the whole, good for the coming 'Season. The position of the fruit 'industry to-day wais largely due to the early efforts, of nurserymen, who had taken it up. It had its drawbacks and had laboured under .great disabilities, but the fact that 696 nereis had 1 been pHanted in orchard last year showed that the industry retained itlhe confidence of the public.
