NATURAL GAS STRUCK. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) GISBORNE, Jan. 11. AVhen drilling a well for the Patutahi sub-station of the Waikaremoana hydro-electric scheme, the contractor tapped a supply of gas at 80 feet, which shot a column of water 25 feet in the air. The- water was bubbling with gas, the nature of which has not been ascertained, though it is probably marsh gas - Such has been found and recognised elsewhere on the Poverty Bay flats.
