“WHO HIT ME?”
BABOON SCORES A -EZNOOKOUT. AN: IMPROMPTU "TURN. A surprise was in store at the Opera House yesterday afternoon during the matinee, whep an unrehearsed incident occurred which, if amusing at the time, w r as not appreciated by at least one person in the theatre. Pedrini was putting /‘Whiskey, ’’ -the large baboon through some tricks, but the animal was apparently not in the most cheer- I ful -of moods and became difficult to handle. While the performance was j going on, the -baboon suddenly seized i a small stool on which he was sitting, and hurled it from between his legs towards the audience. It struck Mr Barnes, the pianist, a nasty blow on the forehead, inflicting a gash above the eye, necessitating medical atten- i tion. Dr. Sinclair, who was summoned immediately, dressed the wound, which I was found not to be so serious as at ! first anticipated. Although 'Mr Barnes was unable to fulfill his duties at the Opera House last evening, he is now quite recovered from his unenviable experience, and is about as usual.
