AN AFGHAN PRINCE.
RIVAL TO KING AMANULLAH BID FOR THRONE ANTICIPATED. United Press Association —By Electric TelegrapO Copyright.) (Australian Frees Association.) Received 12.4-5 p.in. to-day. DELHI, Jan. 4. The Government of India has offered a handsome reward for the detention of Prince Sirdar Muhammad Omar Khan, a member of the branch of the royal family which are rivals to King Amanullah, and who escaped from parole at Allahabad in disguise. It is reported that he has crossed the northwest frontier and is making a -bid for Afghanistan through Allahabad. Omar is the only son of the late Sirdar Muhammad Khan, and was taken to Allahabad at the close of the second Afghan war and was not allowed to leave. Omar is said to be strongly pro-British, and was believed to- have been using the tribal revolt as a. chance for restoring his own dynasty to the throne.
A Khabnl message says that the king rewarded his troops with two months’ pay for repulsing the rebels.
