GORED BY A BULL
AWATUNA FARMER ATTACKED
Mr Richard Pope, of Auroa Road, Awatuna, was attacked by a Jersey bull oil his farm on Monday evening and suffered injuries which necessitated medical attention. Mr Pope was tethering the animal when it attacked him, inflicting injuries to the chest. He was struck a glancing blow by the point of the horns which grazed his skin and his chest was bruised. Miss Pope witnessed the incident and went to her father’s assistance, driving off the animal before further injuries could be inflicted.
Dr. Gray was summoned and found the injuries to be not serious. Mr Pope is at present confined to his home, but it is expected that he will be about again in a few days.
