Kirkwood, the golfer, ha,s departed for America after a holiday visit to Australia. Discussing the game in Sydney, he expressed surprise that, despite the great increase in (the number of players during tlr© past eight years, the standard had not improved, but had rather slipped hack. Another surprise Re remarked upon was that the government of the game in Australia remained in the hands of a select few who were self-appointed 25 years ago. I’lie introduction of youth and virility into the management would send the game ahead. Kirkwood proposes to' revisit Australia next season to compete in the professional: championshp, far which lie has donted a cup.
