CARS IN COLLISION.
CRASH NEAR. ELTHAM. TWO OCCUPANTS INJURED. A motor collision, attended with, serious consequences to two occupants of the cars concerned, occurred at six o’clock last evening at the intersection of the Hunter and Efltham-Opunake Roads. . The injured parties were Miss Osborn, residing at Ariel Street, Stratford, and Mr Fred Hall, a well-known farmer, of Lowgarth. Miss Osborn suffered injuries to, tne head and left arm, and was removed to the Stratford Hospital. Mr Halls’s injuries were more serious, consisting of a fracture of the collarbone, a scalp wound and concussion. He was conveyed to the Hawera Hospital by ambulance, which arrived on the scene from Hawera at. about 6.30.. He was reported to-day to be making satisfactory progress. At the time of the collision, Mr B. W. Briggs, grocer, of Stratford, accompanied by Miss Osborn, was driving a two-seater Ford car in the direction of Mangatoki and Mr Hall, in a fiveeeater Chevrolet, was crossing from the Dower to the Upper Hunter Road on his way home to Lowgarth. Mrs Hall, with two children (a girl of four years and a two-months-old baby) and Mr Paul Lehrke, of Eltham, were also occupants of the car, but escaped unhurt. Both cars were considerably damaged. Miss Osborn and Mr Hall were carried to the nearby residence of Mrs Lawrence where they received attention from Dr. D. H. Saunders, of Eltham. who was visiting a friend in the neighbourhood. ~ . ~ Approach to the intersection from the Efltham side is obscured by a hedge on Lower Hunter Road, and though visibility is better than on the upper side, the crossing is generally regarded as dangerous.
