HAWEEA CLUB COMPETITIONS

HANDICAPS FOR WEDNESDAY,

Nominations totalling over 300 in the running and field events l and 40 in. cyc-lc races have been received for the: season ’s fifth evening sports meeting to bo conducted iby the Hawera Amateur Athletic Club at the showgrounds on Wednesday. The programme is to, commence at 6 o’clock. A prominent feature should be, the season’s record javelin throw contest in which 1G handicap performers arc to appear against the British Empire record holder, S. A. Lay. T. Lay and L. Hunt, who were second and third respectively to S. A. Lay ait the Wan-gamui-Taranaki centre championships last season, are included in the nominees. The fifteen contenders in the shot put handicap include the centre champion, L. Hunitr, while nominees for the broad jump handicap include the centre champion, A. E. Gilliver. ■ The programme, will consist of eleven evemtspmcluding a, handicap of 75 yards for ladies and a handicap of 440 yards for secondary Schoolboys-, handicaps in which will be announced, on the ground.
