As was anticipated, Smith badly beat Lindrum on points in the first day of the match at Newcastle-on-line. With a. 288 and six other threefigure breaks lie scored 1463 ;to Lindruni’s 288 in the afternoon, while'at the evening session he had a brilliant break of 718. Lindrum never reached top form, only averaging 13 a visit in the afternoon and 47 in the evening.
