OFFENCES BY MOTORISTS. BREACHES OF REGULATIONS. The fortnight.lv sitting of the Magistrate’s Court at Hawera was continued before Air J. S. Barton, S.M., todaj‘cutting THE CORNER. “'Cutting the corner is one of thrmost dangerous of all breaches of. Hie by-laws. ! J.n towns and boroughs it is the most fruitful cause of accident there is,’’ said the magistrate in dealing with charges preferred against John Stickle Rotter, of Manutahi, of failing to keep to the left of the traffic dome at the intersection of Surrey and - Victoria Streets, when riding a motor cycle on the evening of November 10, and with riding the cycle when it was carrying mor-c than two per sons. Defendant pleaded guilty to bath counts.
""The Borough Inspector (Mr L. Hunt) gave evidence of having seen defendant icut the corner and that defendant had travelled a distance of ten miles into to'wn the next night, to interview the inspector and had been perfectly frank about, the matter. _ On the charge of cutting the corner defendant was fined £2 and 12s costs. On the other charge he was convicted and ordered to pay costs only. ,WITHOUT LICENSES. Pleas of guiltv were entered by Robin Douglas Bloor, of Hawera, to charges of having ridden a motor cycle without a license on November 6, and of having! ridden the cycle whilst it was not equip- j ped with a device to give warning of approach. iMr E. 3VI. Beochcy, who appeared 1 for defendant, explained that the latter was having a trial run on the machine. Pines of 10s and 10s costs on the first and 5s anil 10s costs on the second counts respectively were imposed. Gordon Wright, of Hawera, who was involved in a collision on the Glover Road on- the evening of November 23, 1 was found to have been riding a motor cycle without a driver’s license. He pleaded guilty to the ensuing charge and was fined- 20s and 10s costs.
